The Dutchman was impressed with the DYL initiative and was pleasantly surprised to see talent of such nature at display in a city like Delhi. The 53-year-old also made a shot visit at another venue of the league in DPS R.K. Puram.

The Delhi Youth League was started in January 2013 and currently its second season is running after the first season was very successful. The league hosts teams from different academies and NGO’s besides public and private schools in various age groups from 6-19 and it is held between the months of September and April. The DYL is a non-profit initiative and has received heavy appreciation from critics, children and parents alike.

With a paucity of football activities, a proper system and a lack of infrastructure, the Delhi Youth League has come in as a breath of fresh air for the enthusiastic young footballers from the city to showcase talent, learn the nitty gritties of the game and compete with the best. A lot of expat kids are also part of the league and competing with their local counterparts which does also raise the standard.
