Following consideration of written submissions from both the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the ICC technical committee awarded the associated points. “The matches, which were due to be played between August 1 and October 31, 2016, were not formally scheduled and did not ultimately take place. And the technical committee has ruled that Pakistan will be awarded two points for each of the three games and, in accordance with the ICC Women’s Championship playing conditions, India shall be considered to have scored 0 runs in each of the 50 overs in each of the three matches and that its net run rate shall be adjusted accordingly,” ICC said in a statement....

India were all out for 204 runs in their second innings on the fourth day, setting a victory target of 405 runs for England. The visitors lost openers Alistair Cook and Haseeb Hameed to post 87/2 by the end of the day. They are currently trailing by 318 runs. “When you have 400 runs on the board it is not easy to chase in India. Chasing 400 runs on day four and five is always difficult....

This could well mean that the assistance promised to the seam bowlers could be restricted to the initial few overs after which the pitch would be a batting paradise. Historically, the pitches at Dharamsala have been belters where the men wielding the willow have enjoyed themselves owing to the true bounce and carry. This could also mean that the bowlers will have to slog it out to extract any assistance from the surface as the hard nature of the pitch would make it very difficult for both the seam and spin bowlers....

On the contrary, the bowling has followed a sine curve in their performance. India have had some greats like Kapil Dev, Jagaval Srinath, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh etc. who have done the job as and when required, but the whole unit has rarely been up to the mark. The scenario has changed now. Today, the Indian bowling can defend any total and even restrict the opposition to a low score, and hence make the job easier for the batting unit....

This World Cup has been marred due to bad weather as four matches have failed to yield any result. Most recently, the match between India and New Zealand was abandoned due to a combination of rain and wet outfield. According to the MET department, there is great chance of rain playing a spoilsport in the much-awaited clash on Sunday.
